Our amazing Mexico Pottery Retreat takes place in the city of Merida, capital of the Mexican state of Yucatan.

Note that we still have a few spots available in the Seven-Day Retreat, which is just as delightful!  

For all our retreats, the registration fee is to secure your spot(s) in the pottery studio, and that fee will be deducted from your final booking payment.  If the retreat booking is not completed with Movement Travel within the five business days following the registration, the registration will be cancelled and the fee will not be refunded.

This nine-day retreat is a unique program for potters of all levels - beginners welcome!  It offers an exceptional opportunity to learn the traditional process of making Yucatan clay, from stone to workable clay, right in the village where it is extracted.  Then we will move on to enjoy four sessions in the best pottery studio in town, where we will learn some ancestral handbuilding and surface decoration techniques.  While our clay creations dry and get fired we will revel in some of Merida and Yucatan 'musts', like an excursion to a cenote and historical hacienda, a day at the beach, a market to table cooking class with a local chef, and many outings to local activities and events.  With plenty of free time to enjoy galleries, museums, shops, restaurants and cafes as we stroll around downtown Merida, this program offers a perfect balance of planned activities and fun and relaxing time. We will explore the city on foot and walk our 10,000 steps a day for sure, so bring your best walking shoes!
