About Us

Shaw Street Pottery was founded by Julie Martin in January 2019 in Toronto’s Little Italy. Tucked behind her home, this cozy and bright studio offers a welcoming space for potters of all levels. With small group of up to only three potters, Julie provides beginner and intermediate students with hands-on instruction in various hand building and surface decoration techniques. The pottery wheel program is available on a one-on-one basis, and experienced potters can also rent the studio for three hour sessions.  

Shaw Street Pottery is the only pottery studio offering such an intimate and cozy environment in downtown Toronto.  Never crowded, always welcoming and clean, and perfect for a calm and relaxing 'me time' break in your busy week.  This means that Julie is available to help you with your clay projects right when you need assistance, working at your own pace, for a much more satisfying pottery experience and better results with your clay creations.  

Every year, Julie also organizes and hosts amazing travel packages which always include a great pottery program, with a dynamic cultural immersion into vibrant destinations like Mérida (Mexico), Québec City, and Toronto.  These unique travel offerings are all available in collaboration with Movement Travel - affiliated with Nexion Travel Group (TICO #1549342).
