2025 Janal Pixan & Day of the Dead - Get the brochure!

Janal Pixan is the Maya's Day of the Dead.  This beautiful program takes place in Mérida, capital city of the state of Yucatan, from October 25th to November 3rd, 2025.  This is a unique cultural experience for creative travelers, makers, and potters of all levels - with a perfect balance of planned activities and free time.

This special program includes pottery workshops (of course!), hand building with Yucatan clay in the best studio in downtown Mérida. We will also explore some traditional Yucatan motifs and Maya symbols, and apply them to the surface of some pieces using the sgrafitto technique.  We will also enjoy an excursion to a historical hacienda and cenote, a market to table cooking class with a local chef, many outings to the Janal Pixan and Day of the Dead festivities, and the best traditional weekly events of downtown Mérida.  We will explore the city on foot and you can count on a lot of walking, so bring your best walking footwear!   We will be staying in a super comfortable, spacious and gorgeous house, breakfast is included every morning, and so is a light snack and beverage every afternoon.  Perfecto!! : )
