Our amazing Mexico Pottery Retreat takes place in the city of Merida, capital of the Mexican state of Yucatan.
This seven-day retreat is a unique program for creative travellers, makers, crafters and potters of all levels - beginners welcome! We will enjoy four pottery sessions in a great downtown studio where we will learn how Yucatan clay is made, from stone to workable clay, and learn some Yucatan ancestral handbuilding and surface decoration techniques. While our clay creations dry and get fired, we will revel in some Yucatan and Merida 'musts', like an excursion to a beautiful cenote and historical hacienda, a market to table cooking class with a local chef, and many outings to local activities and events. We will also have enough free time to enjoy galleries, museums, shops, restaurants and cafes as we stroll around downtown Merida, for a perfect balance of planned activities and fun and relaxing time. We will explore the city on foot and walk our 10,000 steps a day for sure, so bring your best walking shoes!

If booking for double occupancy, your travel companion can opt out of the pottery program for a $150CAD rebate (approx. $108USD).
Note that the registration fee is to secure your spot(s) in the pottery studio in Merida, and that fee will be deducted from your final payment. Shaw Street Pottery is required by law to retain the services of a registered travel agency for all our travel offerings, and Movement Travel is our awesome partner for the Shaw Street Pottery Mexico Retreats. Following your registration, they will be reaching out to proceed with your payments and complete your booking. Please note that if the retreat booking is not completed within the five business days following the registration, the registration will be cancelled and the registration fee will not be refunded.
