A unique opportunity to learn about Yucatan clay and explore Maya ancestral handbuilding and surface decoration techniques. With this ten-day program, potters will visit a nearby village where the clay is mixed, to experience the entire process of preparing clay - from stone to mud. Four pottery sessions in a welcoming and well-equipped downtown studio, with two super nice local clay artists and teachers. Generous breakfast every morning, Happy Hour every afternoon, all in a spacious and super comfortable downtown house.
While our work dries and gets fired, we enjoy a sweet excursion to a cenote and historical hacienda, a day at the beach, a 'Market to Table' cooking class with a local chef, and many local activities, events, galleries, museums, and concerts. A lot of free time to relax too! We will walk our 10,000 steps a day, so bring your walking shoes!
