A unique 6 day program in the heart of beautiful historic downtown Merida, Yucatan. We'll be staying in a beautiful B&B, walking distance to Plaza Principal, many museums, art galleries, great restaurants, cafés and bakeries, public markets, and the many weekly events and outdoor entertainment of downtown Merida. We will be walking our 10,000 steps a day for sure, so bring your walking shoes!
This program includes 6 nights accommodation (guests book their chosen room directly with B&B owner), 3 pottery workshops in which we will work with local Yucatan clay and learn some ancestral hand building and surface finishing techniques. The workshops take place in a great little pottery studio, right downtown. And yes - our clay creations will be fired by the end of the retreat!
This program also includes daily breakfast and happy hour nibbles and drinks, a visit to the Yucatan Museum of Anthropology, an excursion to a beautiful hacienda and cenotes, daily outings in the city, and to end on a delicious note - an in house cooking class with a local chef, and dinner.
Should you want to explore more, there are many one day excursion options available in the area, including many Maya archeological sites, cenotes, haciendas, pink flamingos, the beach town of Progreso, and more. Many half day activities too such as public market tours, Spanish lessons, dance lessons, and more.
Join us for this sweet retreat in the heat, make new friends or bring your own, and experience this buzzing and festive gem of a city in 6 days, with just enough organized activities and just enough free time : )
